Rachel grew up in the charming region of mid-coast Maine, where she developed a deep appreciation for nature and the animals that inhabit it. Surrounded by the beauty of the coast, she spent much of her childhood with various animals, from household pets to critters found in the great outdoors. Although she was new to veterinary medicine when she started at Salish Veterinary Hospital in early 2024, Rachel's lifelong love for animals made her eager to jump into the field and embrace the opportunity to learn and grown in this new profession. Her passion for animals has always been a driving force in her life, and she was excited to turn that passion into a fulfilling career, supporting animals and their families in a professional capacity.
Five years ago, Rachel made the decision to move to the scenic and vibrant valley, where she found a new home and a fresh start. Since setting in the area, she has come to love the sense of community, the beautiful natural surroundings, and the welcoming people. Living in the valley has provided Rachel with a new opportunities for personal growth, both professionally and in her hobbies, and she's found herself truly at home in this wonderful part of the world.
At home, Rachel shares her life with her fiance and their spirited, ever-curious cat, Basil (pictured). Basil is full of personality, always keeping things lively and adding an extra dose of fun to their home. His playful nature brings a lot of joy to their lives, and Rachel and her fiance enjoy spending time together with him, whether it's playing or just relaxing.
Outside of her work at Salish, Rachel is a woman of many interests and passions. She enjoys the thrill of skiing, hitting the slopes whenever she can to take in the beautiful landscapes and get her adrenaline fix. She's also a fan of disc gold, an activity that combines her love of the outdoors with friendly competition, providing a perfect balance of fun and exercise. But perhaps one of her most exciting pursuits is her journey toward becoming a pilot. Rachel is currently attending pilot school, where she's working hard to log flight hours and obtain her Private Pilot License. This new goal is something she's incredibly passionate about, and she looks forward to the day she can take to the skies, all while gaining new skills and experiences that will enhance both her personal and professional life. With a bright future ahead, Rachel is excited to continue pursuing her dreams, both in the veterinary field and in aviation.
