How Salish Does Community Involvement
Here at Salish Veterinary Hospital, we believe that community involvement is essential for building stronger, more connected relationships where people thrive together. When individuals actively participate in local events or even volunteering, they help create an environment where everyone's voice is heard and valued. This collective effort fosters a sense of belonging and shared responsibility, transforming communities into vibrant, supportive spaces. Not only does involvement enhance social connections and promote inclusivity, but it also empowers individuals to drive positive change, address challenges, and celebrate local achievements. Here are a few stories that Salish has been involved in:
Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC):
Salish Veterinary Hospital often works with Regional Animal Services of King County to help improve the lives of lost, missing, or homeless pets. Dr. Thomazin routinely performs orthopedic surgeries on those who are in need.
MEOW Cat Rescue:
MEOW Cat Rescue is a no-kill cat shelter located in Kirkland, WA. They are responsible for placing around 800 - 1,000 animals in permanent home per year. MEOW does have a Canine Division, headed by Kelly Starbuck. When Kelly came to Dr. Thomazin in need for veterinary care for a senior pup named Jiggy, Dr. Thomazin was up for the task. Read more about Jiggy's story here.
Mt. Si High School Animal Society Program:
Salish team members support the Mt. Si High School Animal Society. We offer in-house mentorship opportunities to the students of Mt. Si High School for their animal science classes. Dr. Kent regularly leads group learning at the high school for veterinary science class and is an honorary member of the Mt Si FFA. Dr. Kent, Dr. Belau, and LVT Alyson were guest judges at the 2025 FFA Vet Science competition in which the Mt Si team won!
Other Ways Salish Helps Out The Community:
Salish Veterinary Hospital works with K9 connections as well as Snoqualmie Valley Pet Services to help improve the lives of the sick animals in need. We also sponsor local events such as Red, White and Boom and the Snoqualmie Parade. We love being apart of the Snoqualmie Valley community!
