
Veterinary Assistant
Sam grew up in the lively community of Renton highlands, where his early experiences shaped his deep passion for animals and their care. As a teenager, Sam took his first steps into the world of veterinary medicine by working as a kennel attendant at Newport Hill's Animal Hospital. This initial exposure to the veterinary field sparked a lasting interest, and Sam knew that he had found his calling. His dedication to animal care led him to gain several years of experience as a veterinary assistant at another hospital, where he developed a well-rounded skill set and became increasingly knowledgeable about the intricacies of veterinary medicine. Throughout his career, Sam has earned a reputation for being an invaluable member of the team, and is affectionately known as the self proclaimed "giant" of the group, thanks to his towering presence and big heart.
In his spare time, Sam enjoys a variety of activities that keep in engaged both physically and creatively. He is an avid rugby player and loves to cook. Sam enjoys experimenting with different recipes and cuisines. His culinary curiosity even led him to work as a cheese monger before diving into his career as a veterinary assistant, where he had the opportunity to develop a finer appreciation for food and the art of pairing ingredients. This diverse experience adds a unique flair to his life, allowing him the combine his practical skills with his love for creativity and exploration.
Sam transitioned from emergency medicine to join the Salish Veterinary Hospital team in the summer of 2020, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from his previous experiences in high-pressure environments. His ability to handle stressful situations with calm and precision makes him a great asset to the team. Outside of work, Sam shares his home with his tiny Pomeranian, Sophie (pictured), who is the perfect companion for him. Despite her small stature, Sophie's big personality fills their home with love and joy, providing Sam with a constant source of comfort and companionship. Whether he's playing rugby, cooking a new dish, or simply spending time with Sophie, Sam finds balance and happiness in his diverse interests, making him a well-rounded and cherished member of the Salish team.
