Veterinarian

Dr. Sheri Belau grew up in the vibrant city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her academic journey initially took a different path, as she earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. After graduating, Dr. Belau spent some time working for a large investment firm, where she gained valuable experience in the corporate world. However, her true passion for animals and their care eventually led her back to academia, prompting her to pursue a completely different career path. She returned to school to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from University of Minnesota, a decision that would change the course of her life. She graduated in 1998, ready to embrace her calling as a veterinarian.

Dr. Belau's love for nature and the great outdoors was a major influence in her decision to move to the Pacific Northwest after completing her veterinary education. The region's stunning landscapes, lush forests, and outdoor activities were a perfect match for her adventurous spirit. She has practiced as a small animal clinician ever since, sharpening her skills and building a reputation as a compassionate and skilled veterinarian. She settled in North Bend in 1999, where she has enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the area, as well as the strong sense of community. Dr. Belau joined the Salish Team in June of 2023, allowing her to practice close to home and continue her work in the field she loves.

Dr. Belau has a diverse range of interests within veterinary medicine, equally passionate about both medicine and surgery. She strongly believes in the importance of lifelong learning, always seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary care. She is committed to providing the highest standard of care to her patients, and her deep understanding of the human-animal bond shapes her approach to every case. She believes that the connection between pets and their owners is one of the most important aspects of veterinary care, and she strives to foster those relationships with each patient she sees.

Outside of her work, Dr. Belau leads an active and outdoor-oriented lifestyle. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Johnnie, and daughter Elia, engaging in a variety of outdoor activities that allow them to explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. They frequently go mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and paddle-boarding, always seeking new adventures and ways to stay active as a family. Dr. Belau's home is also filled with the love and companionship of her beloved pets, including Houston (pictured), a high-energy mixed breed dog who is full of life, as well as two playful and affectionate cats, Ned and Lydia. Together, they form a cherished part of Dr. Belau's family, bringing joy and warmth to her everyday life. Whether she's working with her patients, enjoying time outdoors, or bonding with her family and pets, Dr. Belau finds fulfillment in all aspects of her life, and she is excited to continue her journey with the Salish team.
